Therapy for High-Achieving Professionals in Illinois

You're not looking for a generalist. You've done some version of self-management for years. You're functional, often visibly successful, and quietly aware that something is taking more out of you than it should.

The professional clients I work with are lawyers, executives, and others in fields where the stakes are real and the day-to-day cognitive load doesn't have a natural off switch. They come because anxiety is starting to interfere, or burnout is starting to show, or they're in a transition and want to think it through with someone who gets the context.

How the work tends to go

Most of the professionals I work with come in carrying more stress than they usually let on, and they have started to notice it affecting their focus, their sleep, or their mood. What they are looking for is a collaborative space to think it through, with direction when they want it.

You know your own life better than anyone. My role is to be a clear thinking partner: I ask the questions that are easy to avoid, help you see the patterns that are hard to notice from the inside, and offer direction when a situation calls for it. Cognitive behavioral therapy gives the work its structure, and we adjust the balance of reflection and direction to what is most useful to you.

What we might work on

  • Anxiety that's started to interfere with sleep, decision-making, or relationships
  • Burnout in a career you don't want to walk away from
  • Career adjustment: a new role, leaving a role, considering a move, and the workplace stressors that spill into home life. When a transition is on the table, we can run a structured life goals assessment to give the thinking shape
  • Perfectionism, impostor patterns, the cost of always being competent
  • Marital or family pressure that's compounding the work pressure
  • Long-running anxiety or depression that you've worked around but never directly addressed

If what you want is skills work on planning, focus, and follow-through rather than therapy, executive functioning and ADHD coaching may be the better lane.

What it looks like

Weekly 50-minute sessions. Telehealth, which usually fits a packed calendar better than driving anywhere. The work can run a few months to resolve a specific thing, or longer when what you want is someone consistent in the loop on a complex life. You can read more about my background on the About page.

First step

A free 15-minute call. You ask what you want to ask. I'll tell you whether this is the fit you're looking for and how the work would actually go.

Frequently asked questions

Will you give me direction, or mostly listen?

Both, depending on what you want. Some clients want a sounding board and room to think out loud. Others want more concrete direction and input. The work stays collaborative either way, and you can tell me at any point which you need more of.

How long does the work usually take?

It depends. A clear, specific piece of work can finish in three to four months. A consistent thinking partner across the seasons of a career or family is a longer arrangement. Both are normal.

Do you take insurance?

In network with Blue Cross Blue Shield nationwide and Aetna nationwide. Out-of-network superbills available. Many professionals choose out-of-network because they want full privacy on the record.

I'm not in Decatur. Does that matter?

Sessions are telehealth. I'm licensed in Illinois, Georgia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, so the work can stay continuous across most career moves.
